♫♪ I'm in the Lord's Army ♪♫

*In case you've never heard this song... here's what the lyrics are supposed to say :)

♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪

I may never march in the Infantry, (march)
Ride in the cavalry,
(pretend you're riding a horse)
Shoot the artillery.
(clap hands together)
I may never zoom o'er the enemy,
(spread arms out and pretend to be a plane)
But I'm in the Lord's Army.
(point one finger up to God)
I'm in the Lord's Army, (yes, sir!)
(salute)
I'm in the Lord's Army, (yes, sir!)

As an aside.. did you know you can type music notes on your keyboard?!
(can you tell by the number of music notes in this post, that I'm excited about this discovery?)

All you have to do is hold down the ALT key and on the KEYPAD (not the numbers up top, the ones on the side) press 13 (♪)and 14 (♫)! SO cool! ALT +3 gives you a little ♥ ha! who knew!?

It's like finding a mole you never knew you had-- have you ever done that? I have. Hopefully it wasn't skin cancer or something... maybe I should get that checked :) hey! there's one of those too! ☺(alt+1)! ☺

Now that it's almost February...

I figured I'd go ahead and post a few pics from News Years Eve...
Makes sense, right?

We spent new years with the Ingrams and the Richardsons shooting fireworks and baby watching :)
a little lael lovin...

I love the i-love-you-from-the-bottom-of-my-toes smiles here :)

It was all fun and games...

until the sparklers started getting a little too close for comfort...

and i just love benson holding Trey's hand as well as the look on his face in this one...

happy new year! a month late :)

i love babies :)

Our friend Chad turned 28, and his very organized and incredibly adept party-planner-wife, Jessica, planned a surprise party for him. I don't have any pics of the birthday boy, but we DID get to spend time with todd and cassie's precious baby girl Izzie.

I think I like the looks of this...

And I REALLY like the looks of this...

I think we need one of these...

He agrees...

But for now, we'll just eat cake and be happy :)

or wrestle on the ground in the restaurant... we're cool with whatev..

took another trip to hartsville today

just to look around...
and we ate here:

this was benson's favorite part:

Until...

Erin Andrews reports: "He should be back on the field next week..."

friday night hoops

We love a hometown Friday night basketball game. Lexington played White Knoll tonight, so we got to go and see so many familiar faces!
As an aside-- every time I go to a varsity basketball game, I wish we could teleport back to 2000 and relive Benjamin's senior year basketball season when they won the state championship- no games will ever be as awesome as each game was that year... and just for the fun of it, and because i just so happen to have the picture on hand, due to the upcoming TEN YEAR reunion, I'll post it here:

so you can see the boys in all their glorious adolescent splendor

We grabbed a bite at firehouse beforehand-- Benson insisted upon getting a new firehat.
i just love those lips :)

i wish i was a little bit taller... i wish i was a baller...

Benson loves running into Hannah Rose at the games...

and getting a kiss from her...

and going to see the wildcat with her...

but what he really loves, is her toes...

Melt my heart, you little Benjamin, you.

these rails were made for hangin'

he had...
so. much. fun.
can you tell?

and all that fun made him hungry...

This is really happening..

We painted Benjamin's office two days ago, which made me realize...

this is really happening...

And I spent the next day looking at rental homes, and found one that I am in love with, which made me realize...

this is really happening...

And we're in the final stages of contract negotiation with a buyer on our house in Lexington, which made me realize...
THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING!!!!!

Which reminds me...

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6

and

"I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Which I know is *technically* a promise for the hope and future that we have in Christ for eternity--

but is a reminder that the Lord's hand is in even the smallest details of our life to bring about His purposes for His glory and that he indeed knows the plans that HE has for us-- and that none of this is by chance or luck, but by His Sovereign Hand on which we can fully trust and rely!
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

I'm so glad I love Jesus :)

You can know him too!
Here's a video called "Hell's Best Kept Secret"-- it's worth your time to watch it!
(Even if you already DO love Him! :) )

Mater Daddy

Benson and Benjamin have this new game they play--
Benson is "Lightnin' McQueen" and Benjamin is "Tow Mater" from the movie "Cars"
Benson runs up to B and says "I've got a flat tire, Mater-Daddy"
And Benjamin, with his hick-toned rendition of Mater's voice replies "You got a flat tar? Well lets tow you to da shop!"

Benson holds out both of his hands and Benjamin drags **tows** him around the house

until they get to the "shop" at which Mater-Daddy fills Lightnin's tires (feet) back up with air.

Benson would play this game non-stop if Benjamin let him. And I just LOVE watching them together :)

And also.. I had this box laying around this morning and Benson hopped in it and said, "look, mama! I'm jack in the box!" :)

To Infinity!..... And Beyond!!!!!

We gave Benson the movie, Toy Story for Christmas-- along with the Woody action figure. He only had to watch it one time before he started asking for Buzz too--
This past week, we hit a monumental milestone-- he spent the WHOLE! night at Nana and Papa's house-- and to reward his bravery and big-boy-ness, he got his very own Buzz Lightyear-- (as an aside-- for Papa, who wasn't familiar with this movie, he was a bit confused by our bribe to give our two year old a "bud light" for spending the night--No papa, no. :) )

Here he is with his new found loves...

And here he is flying like Buzz---- :)

Allison Kate

We had the extreme honor and privilege of getting to see the Moores TWICE during their trip home! They stopped in Lexington for a quick visit on their way back to Texas-- Of course I had to capture this little cutie with some snaps so I have something to hold onto until the next time I get to kiss those sweet cheeks!! I love how her eyes turned out in these pics-- those blue eyed babies... i love em :) We miss you Moores!

She was teething.. on Benson's stethoscope :)

Christmas #7-- Our House!

We were finally able to settle down and celebrate Christmas as a family the Sunday after Christmas-- I didn't really get many pictures of Benson opening all of his gifts, but trust me, he had a great time! He's already asking if it's Christmas again, yet!

Crackers and socks-- this little boy is easily pleased :)
A monkey...
A monkey excited about meeting his new monkey...
Meeting the new monkey...
One monkey hysterically laughing at his new little monkey laughing at him...
And I loved the light coming in the window that morning while the little monkey was eating breakfast...
